This is a wonderful and special family sketch with colour pencils, that Picasso did for his son Claude, drawn on a visit to Jean Cocteau in 1954, at his place in Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat, South of France. The Donkey and the Cart.
Picasso and Jean Cocteau were long-time friends and met on a regular basis with many artists including Henri Matisse, and members of the famed L’École de Nice, in the South of France.
Size: 21.5 × 7.5 cm.
The photo taken was taken at the time when this drawing was done, is featured on the reverse of the artwork.
Picasso drew it on the back of a Gitanes cigarette poster (as seen at the back).
